Replacing the front optics BMW X5

There are two ways to turn off the power to the BMW X5, the first is to completely remove the terminals from the battery, and then we carry out the procedure for disconnecting the terminals and wiring. The second way, pull out the fuses on the headlights, in this way the on-board computer will not be turned off. The computer screen will show an error that the fuse on the headlights has blown, when you return the fuse back, the error will disappear.
Be careful when removing the latch securing the wiring harness to the headlamp, as they are very fragile and the latches often break. You will have to replace the mount with a new chip along with part of the wiring, it is very difficult to find it separately on sale.
The next step is "debriefing" with the headlights mounting, that is, you need to make notes of their location in order not to set the headlight height again later. But, if these are the latest models, then the driver can set the correct angle of inclination of the headlights even from the car interior.
After disconnecting the wiring, we proceed to remove the headlight itself. First of all, it is worth removing the bar (only applies to BMW X5 in the back of E53 before 2003), which is located under the headlight, behind it are the mounting bolts with which the headlight is screwed to the frame and bumper.
Next, unscrew the two bolts above the headlamp and under the headlamp, they attach the entire mechanism to the frame. For BMW X5 E53 after 2003 or X5 E70 and older, the procedure for removing the headlight is more complicated, you will have to unscrew the upper part of the bumper or unscrew two bolts from the inspection pit, which were hidden behind the bumper, as such there are no bars under the headlights in this body. Most often, the front bumper is removed completely, since part of the wiring is hidden behind the bumper.
After removing the fasteners, remove the X5 headlights by pulling them forward, since due to the shape of the fasteners in the engine compartment, they cannot be pulled out in any way.
Before buying new headlights on a BMW X5, experienced experts advise it is best to inquire in advance about what fasteners are in the old model and the newer one. Installation of new headlights is carried out upside-down. When the fasteners have already fallen into place, it is worth tightening the bolts according to the marks drawn before. The angle of operation of the headlight depends on this. If such marks do not coincide or you forgot to make, then you should go to the service station and go through the headlight adjustment procedure at a special stand. During the day it will be difficult to notice whether the headlights are correctly adjusted, but at night you will immediately understand which headlight is lower and which is shining higher. The average cost of such a procedure at a service station will cost 3000 rubles, headlight adjustment will cost 800 rubles.
