In 2015, the long-awaited premiere of the second generation of the mid-engined sports car Acura NSX took place in Detroit. The novelty is the successor to the first generation Honda NSX, which debuted on the world stage 25 years ago.

To the delight of fans of the brand, the 2017 Acura NSX differs only slightly from the pre-production Acura NSX Concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show in 2012. The car received a memorable appearance, a modern interior, rich equipment and high-tech stuffing that can give odds to most modern supercars.

The production of the model is established at the Honda Performance Manufacturing Center, located in Ohio (USA), where it is assembled by about a hundred highly qualified specialists.

The novelty has a stunning appearance, instantly catching the eyes of others and involuntarily associated with a small starship.

The front part of the body is represented by a predatory LED head optics, a neat false radiator grille and a muscular front bumper, with huge air intakes and a sports splitter.

The profile of the Acura NSX attracts the eye with its domed roofline, stylish side mirrors on a long "leg", strongly inflated wheel arches, aerodynamic overflows on the side doors, a sports body kit and additional air intakes located at the base of the rear wheel arches.

The space stern received spectacular LED marker lights, a high-tech rear spoiler, three huge air ducts and a sporty diffuser with four "trunks" of the exhaust system.

The picture is complemented by huge wheels with exclusive R19 and R20 rims on the front and rear axles, respectively.

External dimensions of the new Acura NSX are:

The ground clearance height does not exceed 110 mm, and already in the base, a special low-profile Continental Conti Sport Contact rubber is installed on the car. Customers can choose from eight body colors and several design options for alloy wheels.

The salon of the Japanese sports car meets the original architecture of the front dashboard and premium finishing materials: soft plastic, genuine leather, Alcantara and brushed metal. The driver's seat has excellent ergonomics and is represented by a sports multifunctional steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, with paddle shifters and a modern digital instrument cluster that can change the design depending on the selected driving mode.

In the central part of the dashboard, there is a 7-inch touchscreen monitor of the multimedia complex, right below which is a stylish dual-zone climate control unit.

The car's interior has a two-seater layout and boasts comfortable bucket seats, separated by a massive central tunnel, on which the engine start and electric brake buttons are located, as well as a driving mode selector.

The front seats have excellent lateral support, a heating system and an electric drive, which, despite the high base price, is offered only as an option.

The volume of the trunk is only 110 liters, however, it was not worth expecting otherwise from a car of this class and dimensions.

Special attention should be paid to the extensive customization options for the interior design, offering four color options and a wide range of materials that work well with each other.

2017 Acura NSX Specifications

The sports car is set in motion by three electric motors, two of which are on the front axle and one at the rear, as well as a turbocharged 3.5-liter petrol engine that generates 500 "mares" and 550 Nm of torque. The total power of all Acura NSX engines is an impressive 573 "horses" and 644 Nm of peak torque, distributed between the front and rear axles.

A pair of power plant is an advanced 9-level robotic "box" with a dual-clutch system, which provides acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 3.8 seconds. and allows you to accelerate to a maximum of 307 km / h (although the engine has more impressive potential). Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide accurate information on fuel consumption, but it is unlikely to exceed 10.5 l / 100 km in mixed mode.

The second generation Acura NSX is based on a space frame made of a combination of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber, and also capable of boasting high torsional rigidity. The total weight of the car does not exceed 1725 km, and the manufacturer managed to achieve an almost ideal weight distribution along the axles (42:58).

The car received a fully independent suspension made of aluminum with double wishbones and adaptive shock absorbers filled with a special magnetorheological fluid. For braking the sports car are six-piston monoblock calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, complemented by highly efficient ceramic "pancakes".

Acura NSX 2017 received the original SH-AWD all-wheel drive system, functioning in conjunction with the AHA system, which is able to accurately apply the brakes of each individual wheel. The rack-and-pinion steering is complemented by an electric booster, and the steering wheel requires only 1.91 revolutions to rotate from lock to lock.

A few words must be said about the control electronics, which has 4 operating modes: "Quiet", "Sport", "Sport plus", and "Track". In the "Quiet" mode, the car allows you to move exclusively on electric traction - however, in this mode you can cover no more than 2.5 km. The names of the remaining three modes speak for themselves, but only in the "Track" mode the car can reveal its full potential.

The new Acura NSX is a modern and high-tech vehicle that provides a high level of safety for the driver and front rider, which is achieved through the following equipment and systems:

Options and price of 2017 Acura NSX

Much to the regret of Russian fans, Acura NSX is not officially presented in Russia, but the car can be easily bought in the USA, where its price starts from 157.8 thousand dollars or 9.38 million rubles. at the current rate. Moreover, you can buy a car in Europe, however, there it is sold under the name Honda NSX and at a price of 135 thousand euros for the basic version.

The Japanese should be given their due - they managed to create a truly stylish, well-equipped and high-tech sports car that can compete on a par with such formidable competitors as the Audi R8, BMW i8 and Porsche 911.

Moreover, the car is quite capable of competing with the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 570S, playing in the higher price segment. Those who find the usual Acura NSX not enough should wait for the release of the convertible and the lightweight modification of the Acura NSX R, which should debut in the near future.
