The commercial vehicle segment has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. They not only got rid of the image of exclusively "workhorses", but also acquired full-fledged passenger modifications that pleased family people with two or more children. However, this is not surprising, because such a "van" has a spacious interior, excellent carrying capacity, wide possibilities for transforming the interior, and all this for much less money than the cost of the simplest minivan.
Having caught this trend, the Italian carmaker Fiat first presented the updated Doblo, and in the summer of 2008 presented its new development - the stylish and extraordinary Fiat Qubo heel. The car became a cargo-passenger derivative of the Fiorino model, which has been produced by Italians since 1977 and immediately fell in love with both ordinary people and small businesses.
It is also worth noting that the development of the car was carried out in cooperation with PSA Peugeot Citroen, as a result of which Qubo has two twin brothers: Peugeot Bipper and Citroen Nemo, which are also assembled at the Tofas plant located in Turkey.
In April 2016, the Fiat management for the first time in 8 years released the long-awaited update for Cuba, however, it is not large-scale. The car received a slightly modified exterior, an improved interior, as well as an expanded list of equipment, among which it became possible to install an advanced multimedia system with a 5-inch multitouch display.

Despite the fact that Qubo means "cube" in Italian, it is a stretch to call a car cubic. The company's designers have made some effort to make the "heel" as original, roomy and attractive as possible.
The design of the car is dominated by smooth lines and, as surprising as it may sound, dynamic forms.
The front end of the Qubo has got a slightly redesigned head optics, a completely new front bumper and a completely redesigned false radiator grille and foglights. This gave the car dynamism, and also made the appearance more aggressive, which will certainly appeal to the young part of potential buyers.
The profile of the car has practically not changed, in place are convex wheel arches, sliding rear doors, as well as originally cut windows located immediately behind the rear door windows. As before, there are roof rails on the roof, but what has changed is the design of the alloy wheels, which have become more original and stylish.
The "heel" stern also received minimal changes, in particular, the design of the fifth door was slightly changed, and the name of the model migrated to its central part. In place, there are large vertical side lights and a large rear window, providing excellent visibility to the rear.
The company emphasizes that thanks to a number of aerodynamic solutions, the drag coefficient of Fiat Qubo is only 0.31 Cx, which is not inferior to the performance of most passenger cars. The overall characteristics of the car are:

- Wheelbase length - 2510 mm.
The ground clearance height is 150 mm, which is enough for comfortable movement around the city and forays on country roads, but we would not recommend going into the countryside by car. Customers are offered several color schemes to choose from (especially the paddle looks like Disco Green), as well as body variations, so that everyone can find the perfect option based on their taste preferences and needs.

The interior design of the cabin is as simple and informative as possible, although in comparison with its predecessor, the interior began to be perceived as more modern, which is due to the updated steering wheel, dashboard and the possibility of installing an advanced multimedia system equipped with a 5-inch display. In the central part of the dashboard, as before, there are original air duct deflectors and a simple climate control unit. The number of buttons is minimal, however, everything you need is in the car.
The front row seats are comfortable and ergonomic, and also provide a high, almost vertical seating position, which, together with a large glass area, has a positive effect on visibility. The second row of seats can easily accommodate three adult passengers, while there is plenty of free space in all directions.
Note that the car's interior is made using the free space concept, which involves 16 different combinations of seating arrangements. So, if necessary, the front passenger seat can be easily turned into a travel table, which will certainly be appreciated by lovers of long trips with the whole family. The interior of the car is dominated by hard plastic, which, given the class and cost, looks quite logical. Pleased with a large number of pockets and compartments for storing various small items.
The trunk volume in the classic version is 330 liters, while it can be increased to an impressive 2,500 liters, for which it is necessary to completely dismantle the second-row seats. As a supplement, luggage can be placed on the rails, where a bicycle or, for example, a snowboard, can also easily fit.
A few words must be said about the low loading height of only 530 mm, which ensures the most comfortable loading and unloading of baggage or goods.

Compared to the previous generation, the updated Fiat Qubo has lost the base 1.4-liter 73-horsepower gasoline engine, so now the car is available with one diesel and a gasoline engine:
- 1.4-liter 77-horsepower gasoline engine, also presented in a methane version (70 hp). Such an engine has sufficient dynamics for city driving: acceleration from 0 to 100 takes about 15.5 seconds, and the maximum speed is 155 km / h. The downside of such dynamics is fuel consumption, which varies within 6-6.5 l / 100 km.
- 1.3-liter turbodiesel Multijet, generating 80 or 95 "horses". With such an engine, the car looks more frisky, acceleration from 0 to 100 takes less than 14 seconds, but the maximum speed is equal to 155 km / h. At the same time, the diesel has excellent efficiency, consuming only about 3.5 liters of diesel for every 100 km in the combined cycle.
Engines can be aggregated either with a 5-speed manual gearbox, or with a 6-speed Dual logic robot (available exclusively for diesel modification).
The car's front suspension is independent spring, represented by MacPherson struts, and the rear is semi-independent spring, and there is also an anti-roll bar in the front at the rear.
Unfortunately, the car is offered exclusively in front-wheel drive, but there is intelligent Traction Plus technology, which automatically brakes the wheel with the smallest grip area and transfers most of the moment to the second wheel.
Despite the form factor, the Qubo rides well, allowing you to feel confident not only on the track, but also on the dirt road. The suspension confidently handles even large irregularities, but gives in to the waves of the "washboard" a little.
Steering is provided by a hydraulic booster, and front disc brakes with electronic assistants ABS and EBD are responsible for deceleration.

Despite the fact that the car cannot boast of a large number of active and passive safety systems, the manufacturer has equipped it with a minimal gentleman's set, which includes:
- Electronic systems ABS and EBD;
- Electronic traction control and differential lock;
- Front disc and rear drum brakes;
- Front and side (optional) airbags;
- Three-point seat belts;
- Immobilizer;
- Isofix mounts for child seats;
- Cruise control;
- Central locking.
The manufacturer emphasizes that the "Kubo" cab has special crumple zones designed to absorb the force of an impact, as well as distribute it evenly throughout the body. All this allows the car to be used as an affordable family "minivan", although in the company itself the car is considered a large hatchback.

Currently, depending on the sales market, the car is offered in several equipment options, while the price of the basic configuration in Europe starts at 11.98 thousand euros (about 744 thousand rubles). For this amount, the buyer receives:

Fiat Qubo is a compact and extremely practical car with an outstanding appearance, a good set of equipment and economical engines, which is especially important in the face of rising fuel prices.
Unfortunately, the car has not yet been officially presented in the Russian Federation, but everything may change this year. In any case, Fiat managed to create one of the best and most affordable family cars of all currently on the market.
