The difference in the price tag for the same car model in different parts of Russia can reach hundreds of thousands of rubles. Moreover, in large cities, cars will not necessarily cost more than in the provinces.

Where should a Russian buyer go for a new or not very new means of transportation, and is it worth it to go to distant lands for this?

Pricing factors

In fact, a lot of things affect the cost of a particular car in a particular region. The price of a product is formed according to certain economic laws, and this value includes the cost of raw materials, salaries, as well as various services that accompany the process of manufacturing a machine.

In addition, the seller sets his own margin on the new car. This suggests the conclusion that official dealers, working directly with manufacturers, form prices for cars in approximately a similar way.

Prices for used cars are set somewhat differently. The level of prosperity of the inhabitants of the region plays a role here, and the times of release of cars sold there, and the popularity of certain models among local motorists.

So, in the east of Russia, Japanese brands are usually preferred, in the center - German, and in the Volga region - brands of their country.

Often, motorists from neighboring regions visit the Central and North-Western districts for a bargain purchase of a car. But Sakhalin or Kaliningrad, although they have simplified access, respectively, to Japanese and European vehicles, are not so popular with car buyers.

Metropolis or province

Quite often, experts involved in auto-selection or closely related to this area recommend that you go shopping in some large city. There are enough offers, the competition between sellers is high, so it is not always possible to raise the price tag. Otherwise, the buyer will simply find the same car, but with a better price.

Thus, in a metropolis, a motorist has the opportunity to explore a large number of options, and sometimes very similar to each other.

In small towns, car prices are often overpriced, since there are not so many offers. But if the seller is faced with a shortage of demand, then he is forced to dump. An important advantage here is the lower mileage of cars, in comparison with those of megalopolises.

However, driving to a small town can be a waste of time. The choice there is not so extensive, and if absolutely nothing works, then you will have to go home, wasting money, effort and time.

Based on this, Moscow seems to be the most profitable option for buying a car. However, the prices for cars in the capital region are among the most expensive in Russia. In addition, there are two obvious problems:

  1. For visitors, Moscow is the most expensive city in the country. If it becomes necessary to stay here for a few days to study various offers for a car, then you will have to spend a substantial amount of money on accommodation, food and so on.
  2. The Moscow secondary car market is quite criminal. It is replete with broken cars, copies with twisted mileage and other "delights".

So a trip to Moscow is not necessarily the best solution for finding the cheapest car in Russia.

So where to buy cheaper

The demand for new cars in Russia has dropped noticeably lately, which is due to the increase in their prices, as well as a decrease in the purchasing power of Russians. This situation has provoked a rise in the cost of the secondary car market. It became easier and more profitable for the buyer to take a used car than a new vehicle for the same money.

When looking for the most suitable car in terms of price, the buyer has to actively monitor the market. This raises a completely natural question: where are inexpensive cars sold? The problem is that frankly cheap vehicles often end up with a bunch of problems.

Any colossal difference in the cost of new cars in different Russian regions should not be expected. Pricing in this segment is about the same, and hardly any companies or official dealers will want to work at a loss.

But the situation in the secondary car market is somewhat different. And this is the case when you can really save money if you seriously approach the issue and determine the best option for a purchase.

So, the lowest average price for used cars in Russia was recorded by experts in the Kurgan region - 313.2 thousand rubles. In the Altai Republic this value is slightly higher - 313.4 thousand rubles, in the Novgorod region - 336.1 thousand rubles, in the Pskov region - 339.2 thousand rubles. and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic - 343.3 thousand rubles.

The leadership of the Kurgan region in this rating is explained by the fact that the majority of motorists in those regions can rely only on an inexpensive used car. This region with an agricultural economy is one of the poorest in Russia, and there are not many industrial enterprises here either. A similar situation is also observed in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Yes, and not everything is so rosy among the Altai in terms of prosperity: those with a salary below 10 thousand rubles, there are 25%. And in the Novgorod region - 12%. Hence the conclusion that the degree of well-being of residents of a certain region has a significant impact on the local cost of cars.

As practice shows, the variability of prices in the secondary car market is largely determined by the class of prestige of the vehicle. So, the cheapest models of Russian production should be looked for in the provinces and villages.

But for a not very expensive, but popular model or a luxury foreign car, a more "interesting" price can be found in large cities and densely populated regions.

The reason is simple: the larger the offer for a particular car, the lower its price. It is possible to significantly save due to the range of prices by region when buying a status car. Differences in the cost of inexpensive cars will be smaller.

At the same time, buying a car in the region with the cheapest price for it in Russia does not mean mandatory savings. Indeed, to the price of the car itself, you may need to add the costs of its transportation, as well as any associated costs.

Looking for a brand

Previously, a lot of used and new cars were imported to Russia. Now, when production and assembly of models bearing brands from other countries have been established in Russian cities, buying a car through transit points has ceased to be super profitable.

The proximity of the place of manufacture has a greater impact on the cost of cars. Therefore, when looking for the cheapest new or used cars in Russia, you should definitely take into account the geography of their production or assembly. Where the conveyors are, the prices are lower.

The fact is that in those settlements where the enterprises of automakers are located, official dealers usually offer cars at a lower price, since the costs of transport services and logistics are low here. The car from the factory goes directly to the salon, and from there it is taken away by the buyer. In this case, you do not need to assemble an auto transporter and send consignments of goods to other cities and regions.

And since the prices for new cars are moderate, the situation with the sale of used cars is also favorable for the buyer. If a purchase model has already been identified, or at least a brand has been selected, then it makes sense look for a region where they will ask inexpensively for such a car:

  1. Ulyanovsk. This city has the lowest prices in Russia for cars and commercial vehicles produced by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. Admirers of UAZ vehicles - welcome to Ulyanovsk!
  2. Nizhny Novgorod. The production facilities producing GAZ cars, as well as foreign cars under the Volkswagen and Skoda brands are concentrated here.
  3. Tolyatti. This is the city where the AvtoVAZ company is located. In addition to the hit of sales - Lada, cars under the brands Datsun, Renault and Nissan are assembled here.
  4. Izhevsk. If you are interested in Nissan cars, it is worth stopping by here too.
  5. Kaliningrad. The answer to the question where the cheapest foreign cars in Russia are sold from brands such as Kia, Hyundai and BMW.
  6. St. Petersburg. In the northern capital, you can profitably buy cars from Kia, Nissan, Ford, Hyundai and Toyota.
  7. Naberezhnye Chelny. In addition to the famous KAMAZ trucks, cars of the American brand Ford are produced here.
  8. Moscow. But it makes sense to come to Gold-domed for Nissan and Renault cars.
  9. Elabuga. In this city, located in Tatarstan, the assembly of Ford and Fiat cars is carried out.
  10. Taganrog. It is worth coming here for a Hyundai car.
  11. Kaluga. An excellent option for traveling for cheaper cars if the buyer is interested in the brands Peugeot, Citroen, Audi, Skoda, Mitsubishi.

It is noteworthy that some enterprises assemble cars using imported components, while other factories operate a full production cycle.

As for manufacturers, at the end of 2019, AvtoVAZ turned out to be the undisputed leader in terms of sales in the Russian market for used cars with an average price of 150 thousand cars. Hyundai took the second place, Toyota went third.

Well, the most popular cars were LADA Priora with an average price of 221 thousand rubles and LADA Samara - 105 thousand. The company was Ford Focus, which cost an average of 344 thousand rubles.

Conclusion

So, it is recommended to buy a new car near the place of its assembly, a used one - in a not very rich region. In large cities, the choice of models is greater, but there is also a higher demand for them. Whether it is worth going anywhere for a car at all depends on its price, associated costs, and, of course, on the enthusiasm of the car enthusiast.
