Renault Kadjar is a new product of the French brand Renault, which has all the necessary components to become a real bestseller not only in the western, but also in the eastern part of Europe. The official debut of the crossover took place in the spring of 2015 as part of the annual Geneva Motor Show, where the car managed to collect a huge amount of flattering reviews from both ordinary people and authoritative automobile critics.

And it is worth noting that the car really deserves close attention not only because of its appearance and technical characteristics, but also because of its positioning - the management of the auto concern proudly declares that Renault Kadjar 2017 is positioned by them as a prestigious, well-equipped and, therefore, expensive car.

In the European market, the car will compete with the recognized class leaders - Volkswagen Tiguan, KIA Sportage and Nissan Qashqai, to which the “Frenchman” is a blood brother, since both cars are based on a common CMF platform, which appeared as a result of the joint work of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Nevertheless, it seems to us that Kadjar is in a better position, since it has some kind of special charm and sophistication inherent only to the French.

Exterior Renault Kadjar

According to the designers, when creating the exterior, they were inspired by the appearance of the concept versions of Renault DeZir and Captur. As a result, the crossover has received a swift, bright and elegant appearance that allows you to instantly identify a car in a dense city traffic, so that the owner of this car will definitely not be deprived of the attention of others.

The front of the car is made in the style of the latest generations of Clio and Espace, with a characteristic grin of a false radiator grille adjacent to the elegant headlights, as well as a large emblem and a muscular bumper, in which there was a place for a large air intake and a pair of foglights.

The crossover profile, thanks to the embossed sidewalls and massive wheel arches, is associated with a pumped athlete, ready to rush into battle at any time.

Special attention should be paid to the elegant window sill line, made in the style of the latest generations of Mazda CX-7, as well as original alloy wheels that emphasize the charged appearance of the model.

The stern of the "Kajara" attracts the eye with large shades of parking LED lights and an X-shaped bumper that looks terrifyingly at the road users left behind.

External dimensions of the crossover:

  • Length - 4.45 m;
  • Width - 1.84 m;
  • Height - 1,600 m;
  • Wheelbase length - 2.646 m.

The ground clearance of the model is a solid 190 mm, which, together with an off-road plastic body kit, seems to hint at the all-terrain crossover. However, let's make a reservation right away that “Kadjar” is a 100% SUV, the off-road capabilities of which are limited to driving on country roads and light off-road terrain. Also note that, despite the common platform, "Qajar" is 73 mm longer than Nissan Qashqai, thanks to which the car boasts a more spacious interior.

Exterior customization enthusiasts will appreciate the choice between 9 body colors and several R16-19 wheel designs.

Renault Qajar interior

The interior design of the car, in particular the architecture of the front dashboard, the arrangement of the controls and the seat, are almost identical to the Nissan Qashqai, but the Frenchman sports a better and more expensive finish, as well as a wider list of basic and optional equipment.

The driver's seat is represented by a stylish three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, an unusual instrument panel that allows you to choose one of five preset color schemes, as well as excellent ergonomics that are not inferior to the best representatives of the German car industry. In the central part of the dashboard there is a proprietary multimedia system R-Link 2, represented by a 7-inch multitouch screen and proprietary navigation. Directly below it is a neat climate control unit and a series of function buttons that are responsible for various functions of the machine.

The front seats have a well-developed support and a wide range of adjustments to comfortably accommodate a person of any build and height. The rear seats easily accommodate three riders, however, they are profiled for two passengers, which makes the third passenger feel a little discomfort.

In comparison with Qashqai, the volume of the luggage compartment of the "Frenchman" is 472 liters, which is 42 liters more than that of the Japanese, and with the backs of the second row folded down, the volume of the luggage compartment reaches 1478 liters. In addition, Kadjar has an additional trump card in the sleeve, in the form of 30 liters of various shelves, pockets and niches, ergonomically scattered throughout the cabin. So in terms of practicality, Qajar bypasses Qashqai by a large margin.

Renault Kadjar - specifications

The range of power units of the new Renault Kadjar is represented by one gasoline and two diesels:

  1. 1.2-liter petrol, generating 130 "horses" and 205 Nm of rotational thrust, transmitted exclusively to the front axle. Such an engine can work both with a 6-level "mechanics" and a 7-band automatic transmission. To accelerate from 0 to 100, the petrol driver needs 10.1 (10.7) seconds, and the maximum speed is 192 km / h. It is noteworthy that regardless of the pre-installed gearbox, the average fuel consumption is 6.2 l / 100 km.
  2. 1.5-liter diesel engine producing a maximum of 110 "horses" and 260 (250) Nm of rotational thrust with a manual (automatic) gearbox. The dynamic capabilities of a diesel engine are somewhat weaker than a gasoline engine: acceleration to "hundreds" in 12 (12.2) seconds, and the maximum speed - 182 km / h, however, this is offset by higher efficiency. So, in the combined cycle, the car consumes 4.5-4.7 liters of diesel per 100 km.
  3. The third is a 1.6-liter diesel that develops 130 hp. and 320 Nm of torque - the only engine offered with a proprietary all-wheel drive transmission. True, such a motor can be aggregated exclusively by 6-level "mechanics". With such an engine, the car exchanges the first "weaving" in 10.5 seconds. and allows you to accelerate to 190 km / h, while consuming just over 5.2 l / 100 km in mixed driving mode.

Depending on the type of transmission, the car is equipped with an independent front and semi-independent rear suspension (front-wheel drive modifications) or a front independent and rear multi-link. Regardless of the type of suspension, the car copes with fine to medium bumps, even on 19-inch wheels.

The ALL MODE 4 × 4-I all-wheel drive system has three modes of operation, which allows you to choose the most optimal transmission option depending on the type and complexity of the road surface.

The steering is represented by an electric booster, and the braking system is represented by disc brakes and a large number of electronic assistants designed to improve the behavior and safety of the car.

Safety

The price of Renault Kadjar assumes the presence of a large number of systems responsible for the active and passive safety of the vehicle, including:

  • Front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags;
  • Anti-lock braking and brake force distribution system;
  • AFU, ESP and ASR system;
  • Assistant when starting downhill driving;
  • Tire pressure sensors;
  • Cruise control;
  • Front and rear parking sensors;
  • Automatic switching of high beam and tracking system for the lane of movement;
  • Rear view camera;
  • Automatic parking assistant;
  • LED optics;
  • Tracking system for "dead" zones;
  • Belts with pretensioners;
  • Injury head restraints;
  • A pair of Isofix mounts and others.

As you can see, the French were not stingy and offered buyers a large selection of electronic assistants, making the car one of the safest among competitors.
